HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A father is facing charges after investigators say his children were living in filthy conditions.
Jamar Demond Gillum, 37, of Huntington is charged with child abuse or neglect creating risk of injury.
According to the criminal complaint, the Cabell County Sheriff's Office says Gillum subjected his two-year-old daughter and one-year-old son to filthy conditions at their home on Merritts Creek Road.
Deputies say there were rotten, molded vegetables and other food in the refrigerator, in a child's lunchbox, and a high chair. They say there was food matted in the carpet, dirty dishes in the sink and counters, covered with mold and bugs, dirty clothes throughout the home, including the bathroom sink and floor.
According to the complaint, there were no visible toothbrushes for the children.
Deputies say there was an open liquor bottle, with a lid on it, but in reach of the children. They also say there was boxes and junk piled high in every room, as well as the bathtub.
Investigators say the three other children who lived in the home, were at school at the time of the arrest.
