UPDATE: Dozens Watched as Crews Demolished Old School

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Dozens came out Wednesday to see a piece of history demolished in Putnam County.

Demolition crews began the process of tearing down the old Poca Middle School. The school has been replaced by a new facility that opened last year.

In 2009, voters approved a $56 million school bond to build a new Poca Middle School along with several other schools and additions.

Poca Elementary which is located next door was also completely renovated, those upgrades were also finished recently.

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The old Poca Middle School will be demolished this week.

Demolition crews will be on site Wednesday to tear down the old building. The demolition is expected to get underway mid-morning.

In 2009, voters approved a $56 million school bond to build a new Poca Middle School along with several other schools and additions.

The new Poca Middle School opened in 2012.

Poca Elementary which is located next door was also completely renovated, those upgrades were also finished recently.
