UPDATE: Deputy Involved in Crash During Pursuit; Arrest Made

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Putnam County Deputy has been released from the hospital after he was involved in a crash during a chase early Friday morning.

Deputies say they tried to stop Jared Garnes on Sissonville Drive Thursday night. He refused to stop and led police on a chase through Sissonville and parts of Jackson and Putnam counties.

Deputies used spike strips to bring Garnes to a stop.

Garnes is charged with fleeing while under the influence.

During that chase, Putnam County Deputy Tyson Mitchell lost control of his cruiser. He ended up crashing upside down in a creek.

Deputy Mitchell was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Putnam County Deputy was involved in a crash during a chase through multiple counties early Friday morning.

The crash happened on Bowles Ridge Rd., on the border of Jackson and Putnam Counties. Putnam County dispatchers tell WSAZ.com the deputy's injuries were minor.

Investigators say the chase started in Sissonville, but Jared Garnes, 26, took several back roads before the chase ended and Garnes was arrested.

Garnes is in the Western Regional Jail. He was charged with fleeing while driving under the influence.

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The man accused of leading law enforcement officers on a multi-county chase early Friday morning has been charged with fleeing while driving under the influence.

The suspect is Jared Garnes, 26, who is being held in the Western Regional Jail.

WEST VIRGINIA (WSAZ) -- A Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a crash during a multi-county police chase.

It happened on Bowles Ridge Rd., on the border of Jackson and Putnam Counties. Putnam County dispatchers tell WSAZ.com the deputy sustained minor injuries.

Metro 911 dispatchers in Kanawha County tell WSAZ.com the pursuit started in Sissonville. Putnam County dispatch says the driver traveled backroads in an attempt to get away from police.

Metro 911 says the pursuit is over and an arrest has been made.
