FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A deputy has resigned in Fayette County after the sheriff says he admitted to taking money from a fundraiser -- meant to help a boy who has cancer.

Deputy Steven Gray resigned last week.

Gray and several other deputies conducted the fundraiser in the spring -- raising $1,000.

Sheriff Steve Kessler says other deputies discovered that the money hadn't been accounted for.

The sheriff says Gray has paid the money back.

No charges have been filed.
