Family Bonds in Shaved Head Solidarity for Loved One Battling Cancer

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- One look at a family's picture and you instantly notice something: solidarity.

Myrtle Rasp, 49, is battling cancer, but she's not doing it alone.

"There have been times I wanted to give up," Rasp said. "But look around. How can I when there's so much love in this room?"

The Rasp family has taken out the clippers as a show of support. The hair of 15 people and counting has made its way to the living room floor.

On Tuesday afternoon, Carrie Copley Dugan said goodbye to her golden locks.

"We're going to fight this together," Dugan said through falling hair and tears, "and we're going to win this thing together."

Rasp was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the summer of 2011. She went into remission, but now she's battling round two.

"The Internet and Facebook are amazing things," she said. "I've got people praying for me as far away as Asia, and I don't take anything or anyone for granted."

You can check out more about Myrtle's journey. There's a Facebook page called "Myrtle's Mafia" which has all kinds of information about her community of Jackson coming together in the fight for a cancer cure.
