FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A five-car crash has left an elderly woman dead and two others in critical condition.
Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies tell WSAZ.com the crash happened about 2:30 Saturday afternoon on Route 60 in Lavista.
Police say five cars were involved and began when a Chevrolet Tahoe attempted to pass another car heading West. That's when the Tahoe slammed head on into a Chevrolet Impala, according to a press release.
Deputies say two other cars plowed into the wrecked vehicles The driver of the Tahoe and Impala are both in critical condition.
The front-seat passenger is in stable condition but the 91-year-old woman in the back seat died from her injuries.
Deputies say a wet road and heavy fog contributed to the crash. The victims names are not yet being released.
