UPDATE 10/15/12 @ 7:25 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Family and friends are remembering the life of 47-year-old David Carrico of Proctorville, Ohio.

Carrico died during the weekend in a motorcycle accident on the 17th Street West Bridge in Huntington.

"We don't have him anymore," said his niece Jacklene Black. "I just want everyone to be aware of your surroundings that you look for the motorcyclist because they're out there."

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Huntington Police Department.

On the bridge, there is a nearly 20-foot long skid mark where it appears Carrico locked his brakes.

Todd Clay is longtime rider and a manager at Charlie's Harley Davidson, in Huntington. He's well aware of the risks every time he gets on his bike.

"My biggest frustration is people are distracted; they're not paying attention," Clay said. "Defensive driving takes on a whole new meaning. You have to pay attention and expect the worst."

Carrico's family is extending an open invitation to fellow Harley riders.

"My brother always said, if he died he wanted to die on his bike," his sister Jennifer Lester said. "It's something he enjoyed to do."

The family is planning a memorial ride at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Hall's Funeral Home in Proctorville to the cemetery in Rome Township, Ohio.

"We love to see support from his fellow riders," Lester said. "We're all coming out for David's last ride."
