INEZ, Ky. (WYMT) -- A Martin County man will spend 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in an accident that killed a passenger in his car.
26-year-old Billie Evans was originally is charged with murder and DUI following the February 2012 wreck that killed 21-year-old "Bubby" Irvin Spaulding. Evans was sentenced last week.
Investigators said Evans was driving drunk when he lost control of his car along Route 292 in Warfield and hit a tree.
In November Evan pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

Officials say on Saturday morning, Evans was driving on Route 292 in Warfield when he allegedly lost control, crossed the center line and slammed into a tree.
"The wreckage looked like no one should have come out of the vehicle alive," said Martin County Coroner Joe Mullins.
Mullins also said the car appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed.
The arrest citation says Evans failed field sobriety tests and admitted he had been drinking vodka earlier in the day.
"When I talked to him, he had slurred speech. He was not steady on his feet, and he seemed to be impaired," said Sheriff Garmon Preece.
State Police charged Evans with DUI on Saturday after the crash. Officials say he refused medical treatment at the scene, and they took him to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
On Monday, State Police charged him with murder.
Tuesday morning, Evans waived his preliminary hearing, and the case went to the grand jury. His bond remains at $100,000.
The crash happened on Route 292, in the Warfield community of Martin County, about 8:30 a.m.
Martin County Coroner Joe Mullins says Billie Evans was driving the vehicle that crashed. He is 26-years-old and from Warfield.
His passenger, 21-year-old Irvin Spaulding Jr., died in the crash.
Evans was originally charged with DUI. He is now also being charged with murder.
Evans is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
It happened on Route 292 in Warfield about 8:30 Saturday morning.

Mullins says the driver of the vehicle was Billie Evans. Evans has now been arrested and charged with DUI.
He's now in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, and could face additional charges.
Dispatchers say it happened about 8:30 a.m. on Route 292.
Few details are being released at this time.
