Fire Destroys House Near Lavalette

WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A late night fire has destroyed a house near Lavalette in Wayne County.

This is a log house with a trailer attached in the 100 block of Pinehurst Drive. Firefighters got the initial call about 11:45 Monday night.

Lavalette Fire Chief John Maynard tells WSAZ.com the family that lives in the house was not there when the fire started, but returned home while fire crews were still on the scene.

Firefighters were called back to scene about 7:30 Tuesday morning when the fire rekindled.

No word how the fire started. Maynard says the fire does not appears to be suspicious.
