Severe Storm Potential for Wednesday

From the First Warning Weather Center: Thunderstorms will be arriving Wednesday afternoon and evening. Strong to severe storms are possible, with the main threat being gusty winds embedded within the stronger storms. Plan accordingly when heading outdoors later today.

Fire Destroys Family's Home in Flatwoods, Ky.

FLATWOODS, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Fire destroyed a family's home late Wednesday afternoon in Flatwoods, according to Flatwoods Volunteer firefighters.

The fire was reported about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Birch and Hickory streets in Flatwoods.

The family who lives in the two-story home managed to make it out safely, but the home was completely ablaze when firefighters arrived.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters with Russell Volunteer Fire Department assisted.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
