Fireball Meteor Seen in Eight States

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Many in the tri-state had an eye on the sky Friday night.

NASA says a fireball meteor struck earth's upper atmosphere just after 11:30 p.m.

People in 8 states saw the meteor. WSAZ received numerous calls about it.

It hit traveling over 100,000 miles per hour, and many say they heard a sonic boom.

The fireball was 3 feet in diameter and pieces of it did reach land.

The exact location is unknown.
