TUPPERS PLAINS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Meigs County Sheriff's Office is investigating a bizarre case of flag desecration.

They received a call Monday morning about an incident that happened over night at the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tuppers Plains.

According to a press release, someone took down the American flag, tore it in half, and cut the rope of the flag pole. They also left a candle and a packet of Bible sayings at the front door.

Deputies also found a McDonald's uniform hat, a bible and several coupon motel books from Kentucky at the scene.
