PROCTORVILLE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A young boy who asked for charity donations instead of birthday gifts received a Christmas surprise he never could have imagined.
On Christmas Eve, Brady Bane received an envelope with an autographed T-shirt from his WWE wrestling idol John Cena. It was a promise Cena made in a video he posted on the WWE website, thanking Brady for his hard work raising money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Cena played a big role in the donation through his actions. During the month of October, he was wearing pink to support the Komen Foundation. That is what inspired Brady to ask for donations instead of Christmas gifts.
"We double checked a hundred times, 'Are you sure?' " his dad Chris said, "so we let him do it."
The result, thanks to friends, family and local businesses, was $775.
"I just want to be a nice person," Brady said.
The Bane family has no personal connection to breast cancer. This was all inspired by Cena wearing pink.
Brady says he's watched the video "37 times," and his eyes light up just the same way each time.
