POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A picture has been shared on Facebook more than 50,000 times of a woman from our region.
Charlotte Knaul will be 93 years old in May. She is asking people on the social media site to help her find a grandson she's never met.
The boy, who was born in 1968, was put up for adoption by his mother Janie Knaul.
Knaul passed away last month. She tried one time to track down her son, who she learned was named Stephen Ray, but the records were sealed. Now the hope is to find him so his grandmother can meet him.
The boy's aunt, Carol Jarrell, was encouraged by her friends to post the picture with the sign.
She is amazed at the amount of times the picture has been shared. She says it went as far as Australia.
"I said, my goodness, I had no idea it would go that far, so fast," Jarrell said.
Now a process that took families a painstakingly long time could have possibly only taken this family a few days.
"This was on Thursday evening," Jarrell said. "I had a couple people tell me about a Stephen Ray, and by Saturday his wife was texting me on the Facebook."
Nothing is set in stone yet. Both families are going to do a little more checking to see if they are related.
