BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A 900 pound female horse had to be rescued by firefighters Thursday morning after she fell through the floor of a shed and into a cellar.

Her name is “Prissy” and she wandered into a shed looking for hay. The incident happened on small farm along Hardeman Drive in Boyd County, Kentucky.

Jillian Keeton is the owner of the horse and said that when "Prissy” walked into the shed, her back leg went through the floor trapping her inside the cellar.

Keeton said it was another horse, “James”, that first came to the rescue.

"He was pacing and was running back and forth through the field and he would just holler and run and look in the building then take off and holler some more and the neighbors knew that wasn't normal for him so they came over and found her stuck in the shed," said Keeton.

Firefighters from several departments in Boyd County were called to help get the horse out. They used a bucket loader with straps and ropes to lift Prissy out of the hole.

Prissy received only minor injuries and should make a full recovery.

The cellar will be getting a new lock on the door.
