HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Huntington Police Department is looking for a few good men or women.
The department has started a recruitment campaign with the hopes of hiring half a dozen new officers in the upcoming months. The deadline to apply is April 12.
Huntington Police now have a relaxation of rules for those new recruits. Huntington City Council has dropped the requirement that police officers have to live within the city limits.
"Working the area you live in can sometimes be a safety issue," Huntington Police Cpl. Mike Chornabay said. "We're hoping we're hoping we'll draw in more recruits from other areas."
