Husband Facing Charges after Allegedly Beating Handicapped Wife

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Huntington man is facing charges after allegedly beating his wheelchair-bound wife.

According to the criminal complaint, the man beat his wife after her two sons left the home.

The woman only has one leg and suffers from a stroke and seizures that make it very difficult for her to speak, according to the complaint.

When the two sons returned to the home, according to the complaint, they found that their mom had a black eye and bruises on her arms. When they asked her what happened, she pointed toward the room that their father was in at the time.

According to the complaint, the sons then took their mother home with them and she continued to feel ill. The woman was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital and was admitted for having four fractured ribs on her right side.

According to the complaint, the woman later confirmed that it was her husband that caused the injuries.

The woman's husband is being charged with abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult. He is currently being held in the Western Regional Jail.

His bond was set at $20,000.
