CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The name of the person involved in an accident that shut down I-64 for several hours has been released.
According to Kentucky State Police, Ellie Jenkins, 45, of Ironton, Ohio was injured in the single-vehicle accident.
Jenkins, according to the release, was driving a 1998 black Chevy Blazer westbound on I-64, lost control of her vehicle and ended up overturning the vehicle.
The accident happened about 5:45 Thursday morning at mile marker 175.
Jenkins was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center where she is currently being treated for her injuries.
According to the release, Trooper Robinson was able to determine that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and that Jenkins was wearing a seat belt.
The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Ty Robinson.
There is no word on what caused the crash.
At least one person was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter.
There is no word on the extent of the injuries.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 6 a.m.
911 dispatchers say a helicopter was called in to transport a victim.
Dispatchers also tell WSAZ.com they do not know how long the lanes will be shut down.
