ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Required safety inspections of the Ohio River bridges in downtown Ashland are set to begin Monday.

The Kentucky Department of Highways says from September 16-26, engineers and technical crews will climb and inspect the steel support structure on the Ben Williamson (12th Street) Memorial Bridge and the Simeon Willis (13th Street) Bridge.

The work will require daily lane closures between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the 13th Street Bridge, which carries traffic across the river to Ohio, and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the 12th Street Bridge, which carries traffic from Ohio to Kentucky.
