KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police say a drunk driver drove into a house Saturday night in Jefferson.

Officials say George Coure of St. Albans drove into a home on Hampshire Drive just before 10 p.m. They say he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Coure was backing up at a high rate of speed when he lost control and went over a hill into the house, according to officials. He also hit a mailbox.

"We had to use our stabilization jacks to get the driver out," fire chief Mark Ford said.
