Jackson County Man Charged with Sexual Abuse; Could Face 100 Years in Prison

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A Jackson County man charged with inappropriately touching a 7-year-old relative was arraigned Thursday.

Edward Comer Sr. is charged with 1st degree sexual assault, 1st degree sexual abuse and sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.

The alleged incident happened at a home on Trace Fork Road in Sandyville.

Investigators say the victim told a nurse at Jackson General Hospital that she had been molested by Comer over the past several years.

The nurse then alerted the Sheriff's Office which wasted no time investigating the girl's claim.

After searching Comer's home, deputies say they found evidence of the abuse.

More charges could be filed at a later date. His bond has been set at $225,000

If convicted, Comer will face up to 100 years in prison.
