UPDATE: Louisa Bank President Arraigned on Child Porn Charges

LOUISA, Ky. (WSAZ) – The President and CEO of a Louisa, Ky. bank has pleaded not guilty to child porn charges.

Friday, Edgar N. Purdom, 68, of Louisa, was arraigned on four counts of disrupting matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and one count of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor during a hearing in Lawrence County Circuit Court.

Earlier this month a grand jury indicted Purdom on the charges. He was released on $5000 cash bond after his arrest.

The indictment was issued following an investigation by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Cybercrimes Unit.

Follow his arrest, the bank’s Board of Directors announced Purdom was immediately placed on administrative leave.

They also said his arrest was of a personal nature and was not connected anyway to Purdom’s banking duties as our president.

Purdom will be back in court for a pre-trial hearing on February 28.

LOUISA, Ky. (WSAZ) – The President and CEO of a Louisa, Ky. bank has been indicted on multiple child porn charges.

Last week, a Lawrence County, Ky. grand jury recently indicted Edgar N. Purdom, 68, of Louisa, on four counts of disrupting matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, and one count of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. All the charges are felonies.

Purdom is listed as President and CEO at Louisa Community Bank according to the bank’s website.

He was booked into the Big Sandy Detention Center Monday evening after turning himself in at in at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department earlier Monday.

Purdom was released after posting $5000 cash bond.

The indictment was issued following an investigation by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Cybercrimes Unit.

They say the investigation began in February 2013 following an undercover lead.

A search warrant was then executed at Purdom’s home in October 2013 with the assistance of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the indictment, the charges range from February 24, 2013 to October 3, 2013.

Court officials say Purdom will be arraigned on the charges January 24.

If convicted, he faces 1 to 5 years in prison time and fines on each count.

Monday afternoon the bank's Board of Directors released the following statement:
To whom it may concern,

The recent arrest of Mr. Edgar Purdom, President of Lousia Community Bank, is very unfortunate for any bad image that could be created which should not be a reflection on our bank.

His arrest was of a personal nature and was not connected anyway to Mr. Purdom’s banking duties as our president.

Mr. Purdom has been placed on administrative leave as of 1/14/14.

We wish him the best of luck in proving his innocence.

Since this is a personal matter we have nothing more to say at this time.
