SAINT ALBANS, W.VA. (WSAZ) -- Police in Saint Albans arrested a man who's accused of driving drunk with a child in the car.
Multiple calls to 911 about a possible drunk driver alerted police to the car James Newman was driving. They found him in a drive-through parking lot around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Police say he was screaming at restaurant employees and the boy in the car.
Police told WSAZ.com an open container of alcohol was found in the center console of the car. They say his blood alcohol level was two and a half times over the legal limit. Police say he refused to get out of the car and had to be forcibly removed and handcuffed.
Newman is also charged with child neglect creating risk of injury. The 14-year-old boy is the son of Newman's sister's boyfriend. He wasn't hurt and was taken back home.
Police say Newman also hit two fences from two different neighborhoods in Saint Albans.
