UPDATE: Victim's Stepson Charged in Home Invasion and Beating

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people have been arrested in connection with a home invasion in Fayette County.
The crime happened on January 29 in the Prudence Road area in Hilltop.
According to a news release, Steven R. Sullivan, 33, of Oak Hill, and Jeremy S. Bailey, 33, of Glen Jean, were arrested and charged Friday with several charges, including robbery, burglary and assault.
Sullivan is the stepson of the victim.
Deputies say Sullivan and Bailey went to the house and found the homeowner asleep and then beat him with an electric heater in an attempt to steal drugs from his home.
The victim is still recovering from his injuries at CAMC in Charleston, according to the release.
"We received a great deal of assistance from the public throughout this investigation," Sheriff Steve Kessler said. "We've investigated several reports of home invasion robberies throughout Fayette County in the past several months. Several of these reports have been found to be drug related-drug dealers robbing other drug dealers. This crime was not in that category. This was an innocent victim who was allegedly targeted by his step-son, who knew that he had prescription drugs in his residence. This incident is not believed to be related to the other incidents of reported home invasion robberies throughout the area. The investigation into these other robberies is continuing.

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A violent home invasion has left a man with serious head injuries.
Deputies in Fayette County say two men broke into a home in the Hilltop area around noon on Tuesday. They got in through a window.
Deputies say the suspects found the homeowner asleep and they beat him with an electric heater.
The victim's name and condition are not being released.
Deputies believe the suspects were looking for drugs in the home, but didn't find any. Instead, they got away with a gun.
