ELLIOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man has been charged in connection with a shooting during a New Year's Eve party in Elliott County, Ky.
Kentucky State Police arrested and charged Galen Conley, 58, of Sandy Hook, with 1st degree assault, 4th degree assault, wanton endangerment and terroristic threatening.
Investigators say at 1:20 a.m. on New Year's Day, they got a call about shots fired at a house on Dehart Road in Elliott County.
When they got on scene, they found that William Reed, 22, of Sandy Hook, had been shot in the shoulder.
Troopers say Mr. Reed was attending a New Years Eve party at the residence when he got into an altercation with Mr. Conley.
During the altercation, KSP says Mr. Conley shot Mr. Reed in the right shoulder.
Conley is being held in the Big Sandy Detention Center in Paintsville.
He was taken to a hospital in Huntington where he was treated and released.
