Possible Drowning Reported at Summersville Lake

NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Divers continue to search Summersville Lake for a man who they presumed drowned Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say the incident happened on the upper end of the lake about 2 p.m.

Friends who were on a boat with the man say after he went into the water he was not seen again.

Search efforts were suspended at nightfall Wednesday, and resumed at daylight Thursday morning.

Local dive teams, the US Army Corps of Engineers and WV DNR Natural Resource Police Officers and Deputies from the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department are working to find the man.
