PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Bluegrass legend Melvin Goins had two brothers who served in Vietnam.
For the last five years, he's honored their service, as well as all current troops and veterans, with an evening of bluegrass music at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg.
"We owe it to our veterans to do everything we can to help them," Goins says, "so I started this show to honor their service."
Goins will perform with his band Windy Mountain. His nephew, Brian Goins, also will entertain along with the James King Band.
Sammy Adkins and the Sandy Hook Mountain Boys will pay tribute to Ralph Stanley. And 10-year-old Kyle Ramey will pay tribute to bluegrass legend and mandolin player Bill Monroe.
There will also be an Elvis tribute performer. All bands play gospel bluegrass for the last hour of the show.
The Melvin Goins Tribute to Veterans will be from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Tickets are $15 or $18 the night of the show.
"I just hope everybody comes out to the show," Goins says, "to let our veterans know how much we appreciate their service to our country."
DVDs of the tribute will be available immediately after the show Feb. 18.
