UPDATE: Explosive Device, Drugs and Baby Found in Home; 5 Arrested

MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – 5 people were arrested after Mason County Sheriff Deputies were called to a home in Ashton where they say not only drugs were found, but an explosive device.
Deputies were called to the mobile home on Keister Road Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff Greg Powers says deputies found guns and drugs, including methamphetamine and heroin both inside and outside the home.
Powers says deputies also learned there was an explosive device that had been booby trapped at the rear of a detached garage.
A West Virginia State Police bomb squad was call to the scene and disarmed the bomb.
Sheriff Powers says that 21-month-old child was at the home during the investigation and that the child was present when meth was smoked inside the trail by two of the people that were arrested. We’re told the child is now in the custody of his grandparents.
Deputies arrested Matthew Gibson, 26, and Krista Aeiker, 20, who lived in the home.
They also arrested Michael Mayes, 47, of Ashton; Joshua Smith, 32, of Ashton, and John Cornell, 32, of Apple Grove,
Gibson was charged with drug possession, possession of an explosive device, wanton endangerment, and child abuse causing injury.
Mayes, Smith and Cornell were charged with drug possession, and child abuse causing injury.
Aeiler was charged with child abuse causing injury.
"It's just a good start, I mean it needed done and hopefully it's going to help us out and get some more of these people," Sheriff Greg Powers said.
Neighbors are relieved that the suspects are in jail, telling WSAZ.com that this wasn't the first time deputies have been called to the house for complaints.
"I think they ought to clean up the mess," neighbor Robert Chapman said. "I've always preached to people if you do something wrong you're going to get caught sooner or later, you might get by for a while."

MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A deadly device was discovered inside a home deputies say was filled with drugs.
That explosive device had a bomb squad scrambling to a home along Keister Road near Ashton in Mason County.
Sheriff's deputies tell WSAZ.com a complaint call launched and investigation.
Investigators say the side garage door was booby trapped with a bomb. Then, inside, the sheriff says they found drugs and guns.
"It's just a good start, I mean it needed done and hopefully it's going to help us out a get some more of these people," Sheriff Greg Powers said.
A baby was living in the home and is now with child protective services.
The bomb squad was able to disconnect that explosive device.
Five people were arrested after deputies uncovered a large amount of meth. They are all charged with child abuse and drug charges.
Joshua Smith, of Ashton, Matthew Gibson, of Ashton, Krista Aeiker of Ashton, John Cornell, of Apple Grove, and Michael Mayes, of Ashton, were taken to the Western Regional Jail.
One of the suspects is charged in connection with that bomb.
For neighbors, they're relieved knowing the suspects are behind bars.

MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- At least 4 people have been arrested after a major meth bust in Ashton, West Virginia.
It happened along Ashton Upton Road Saturday.
Firefighters say meth was found inside the home.
They also say there may be an explosive device in the house.
The West Virginia State Police Bomb Squad has been called out to the scene.
