JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A man was arrested on a probation violation after a meth lab was found inside an apartment building in Oak Hill, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
Matthew Cody Mitchell was taken into custody on that probation violation charge, pending further charges.
A 3-year-old child was removed from the apartment building and placed into the custody of Jackson County Children Services.
Deputies received a tip Sunday about a possible meth lab at the apartment, located in the 100 block of Morgan Street. They arrived at the scene about 10:30 p.m. Sunday and found a "one pot" lab in a living room.
Three adults and the child were at the apartment at the time, and all were decontaminated. The apartment was condemned after health department officials visited the scene on Monday.
Other agencies at the scene were the Oak Hill Police Department, the Jackson County Municipal Court Probation Department, Jackson County Emergency Medical Services and the Madison Jefferson Fire Department.
More charges will be presented to the county prosecutor, and the case likely will be sent to a grand jury. Additional arrests are possible.
