Milton Man Catches Record Breaking Blue Catfish

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A state record blue catfish was caught this month in West Virginia.

Austin Hoffman, of Milton, West Virginia, caught a 47.75-inch, 52.95-pound fish on the Ohio River below the R.C. Byrd Dam in Mason County on April 26.

According to WV DNR officials, Hoffman caught the fish using cut bait, and it sets a new length and weight record.

The previous record was 43.9 inches and 44.5 pounds. It was caught by Mark A. Foster.
