CHARLESTON, WVa. (WSAZ) -- More than 20,000 people have downloaded a tool to help alert people to hazardous traffic and weather conditions.
It's very simple to remember: it's 511.
"Our operators are here 24/7 to take calls and watch the video cameras from around the state," says Carrie Bly with the West Virginia Department of Transportation. "They're talking calls from 911 centers, the West Virginia State Police and Turnpike authorities. They'll digest that information and pass it along to people who are traveling."
There are three people staffed around the clock at the command center at the WV Capitol Complex to help get that traffic and weather information pushed to the smart phone app and website asap.

You'll also find the WV511 APP available for both iPhones and Android based phones, as well.
