PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A married couple, including a man said to be an illegal immigrant, was arrested Tuesday on drug charges after more than 100 pounds of marijuana was seized, Parkersburg Police say.
Jesus Alverado-Aboyte and his wife, Dawn Star Aboyte, were arrested. Both suspects were charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and could face additional charges.
Officers also recovered more than $26,000 cash and a gun after executing a search warrant at a home along the 1300 block of Avery Street. Police also are in the process of seizing multiple vehicles.
Detectives say Jesus Alverado-Aboyte is staying in the United States illegally. He and his wife both were taken into custody and in the process of being transported to the North Central Regional Jail.
Dawn Star Aboyte’s bond was set at $200,000, while his wife’s bond was $75,000.
Parkersburg Police detectives investigated the case along with the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
