UPDATE 4/3/12@ 11:15 p.m.
LOGAN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Police have made an arrest in connection with a murder investigation in Logan.

Police say they arrested Christopher Paul Dingess Tuesday afternoon.

Police say Joel Holland, 45, of Logan, got into a fight with Dingess at an apartment on Stratton Street on Tuesday, March 27.

"They weren't the best of friends. They just got together and had a few beers every now and then," says Logan Sgt. Dave White.

Investigators say the fight was over $20 and was fueled by alcohol.

"It's hard to believe that someone would die over $20. But, it's happened before. And, unfortunately it'll probably happen again. But, the best thing I can say is just try and watch where you put yourself," says White.

Holland was badly beaten and suffered head injuries, according to police. He was taken to a Logan hospital, but later transferred to CAMC General in Charleston since the injuries were so severe.

Holland died from his injuries Saturday.

"It's sad that he's gone now because he was a dude that didn't bother anybody," says Bobby Thomas, one of Holland's friends. "He was just a person that was there for you when you needed him."

Dingess has been charged with murder. Police say they plan to meet with the county's prosecutor to determine a specific charge, which will likely be second-degree murder.
