GRAYSON, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Washington Redskins wide-receiver Mike Furrey is the new Head Football Coach at Kentucky Christian University.
Furrey has been in the NFL for the past 7 years.
His professional football career includes being named 2006 National Football Conference leading receiver with the Detroit Lions .
In 2009 he was a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
Furrey played college ball at Ohio State for two years before transferring to the University of Northern Iowa
KCU President, Dr. Jeffrey K. Metcalf says he is very excited about adding Furrey to the KCU team.
KCU’s varsity football program began play in the Fall of 2008.
The Knights are in the Mid-South Conference and are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA).
A press conference to introduce Furrey will take place Friday afternoon at KCU.
