CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An EF-1 tornado with winds up to 100 mph was responsible for storm damage in the Ona area Wednesday night, the National Weather Service says.
The agency reports that the tornado touched down at Rush Hollow Road and Howells Mill Road. It also reports the twister was on the ground for about half a mile, leaving a path through a forested area.
Homeowners in the area said it was unlike anything they have ever experienced before.
"Well there was just a big gust of wind and really hard rain," resident Sharon Hayes said. "Our trees were bent over. I thought the windows were going to come out of the house. It was something i had never witnessed before."
