UPDATE 7/22/13 @ 6:45 p.m.
ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- From Washington state to a courtroom in Roane County, Chad Renzelman, 33, was brought there because of his connection with an old college friend, Todd Honaker.

Both men are being charged with the murder of Honaker’s wife, Renee Honaker.

“He found me on Facebook,” Renzelmen said about Todd. “I never met her (Renee).”

Regardless, Renzelman is facing a first-degree murder charge in her death.

Deputies say he sent the Honaker’s a new drug -- causing Renee to overdose and die.

The deputy chief medical examiner, Dr. Al Mock, says the drug is called NBOMe and has only been around a year or less.

There's still more to be learned about the drug, but the medical examiner says its effects are similar to acid.

This is the first time Dr. Mock has seen anybody die from it.

The defense argues that Renee's prescriptions mixed with alcohol may be to blame.

“In my opinion it's (NBOMe) what pushed her over the edge,” Dr. Mock said.

Monday, a judge ruled the evidence is enough to send this case to a grand jury.

“I'd say I’m innocent,” Renzelman said.

When asked why, Renzelman replied, “I'd have to discuss that with my lawyer before I comment any further.”

For now both Renzelman and Honaker remain in jail.
