WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One community is ushering in a new era along with bringing in the New Year.
Several elected officials were planned to be sworn in at the Mingo County Courthouse at 11:30 p.m. Monday, including new Sheriff Eugene Crum.
Crum already has been busy working the past few weeks working as a special agent for the prosecuting attorney.
County Commissioner David Baisden says Crum has already done some good work getting drug dealers off the streets.
"For the past eight years, we've been crucified with the sheriff down the hall,” Baisden said. “He's leaving, and we're all glad he's leaving. We've got new blood coming in, new people wanting to do the right thing, and I believe they will."
They also had a fireworks display at the courthouse Monday night.
