NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is facing charges after a burglary in Nitro.
Nitro Police responded to a call at 1:45 a.m. at a house along 28th Street in Nitro.
According to the release, when officers got on scene they noticed the front door was opened and the window screen was torn out. Inside, they found the house was ransacked and furniture was broken.
No one was home at the time, but officers were able to find the person who lives there. The man came home to find that his safe was also stolen from the house.
According to a release, officers later found Richard Matthew Gladfelter, 35, of Nitro, hiding behind a house on 39th Street.
Police say Gladfelter later confessed to stealing the safe. Investigators found the safe behind a bush with everything still inside.
Gladfelter was charged with Nighttime Burglary.
