NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from Nitro faces criminal charges after police say he stabbed his brother during a fight.
Robert Brian Null, 55, of Nitro was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. The incident happened about 11 p.m. Thursday at a home on 8th Street in Nitro.
According to the criminal complaint, when police arrived on scene the victim, George Anthony Null was standing in the front yard with a large amount of blood coming from his stomach and chest area. George told police his brother, Robert was drunk and stabbed him, according to the complaint.
Police say when they walked into the house they found Robert in the living room and he admitted to stabbing his brother, George during a fight in the kitchen.
According to the criminal complaint, Robert told police he had been physically assaulted on numerous occasions and he stabbed his brother in self defense.
As of 8:30 a.m. Friday, George was listed in satisfactory condition at CAMC General.
Robert Null remains in jail on a $10,000 bond. He's expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on April 7.
According to investigators, it happened about 11 p.m. Thursday at a home on 8th Street in Nitro. Police say Robert Null, 55, began fighting with his brother and stabbed him twice in the stomach.
Null is charged with felony malicious wounding and is being held in the South Central Region Jail. His brother was taken to a Charleston hospital, but his condition has not been released.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incident.
