UPDATE: SR 140 in Scioto County Reopens after Semi Crash

UPDATE 3/6/14 @ 5:55 p.m.
SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- State Route 140 in Scioto County has reopened after an early morning semi crash.

The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. near mile post 7.

The truck was hauling trash.

Crews worked for 12 hours to clean up the trash that spilled when the driver lost control and the truck overturned. 50 gallons of diesel fuel also spilled in the crash.

The driver, David Ramey Cordell, 49, of Portsmouth, was flown to a Huntington hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- State Route 140 in Scioto County remains closed after an early morning semi rollover.

The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. Thursday near mile post 7.

The Ohio Highway Patrol says David Ramey Cordell, 49, of Portsmouth, was heading east when he lost control and the truck overturned.

Cordell was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington with non-life threatening injuries.

Cordell was hauling trash in the semi. Trash and nearly 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled in the crash.

OHP says the road is expected to reopen around 6 p.m. Thursday.

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A semi hauling garbage has crashed closing a portion of SR 140 in Scioto County.

It happened about 5:30 a.m.Thursday near mile post 7.

The driver of the semi was injured, and had to be cut out of the cab by members of the South Webster FD. He was flown to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Garbage, along with about 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled in the crash.

Troopers say they expect the road to be closed until about 4 p.m. Thursday. A detour has been set up around the crash.

Troopers believe speed was a factor in the crash.

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A garbage truck wreck on Route 140 in Scioto County ended with the road blocked and the driver of that truck being flown to a hospital in Huntington.

It happened about 5:30 a.m. Thursday near mile post 7. Traffic in the area is being detoured around the area of the wreck. Dispatchers say the truck ended up on its side in the crash and that the driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the driver has not been released.

No one else was hurt. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
