Appetizer's Statement

UPDATE 12/26/13 @ 5:15 p.m.
CROSS LANES, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Neighbors who live near a Cross Lanes bar are hoping Thursday's shooting sends a message that the violence needs to stop.

A private party filled Appetizer's Bar and Lounge late Christmas night. The host says a few girls got into a fight inside the bar. They left and a few minutes later shots rang out in the parking lot. Neighbors who live near the bar say the fight spanned from in front of the bar, to behind the building, and even into the woods. One neighbor who didn't want to be identified says, "At one point he heard someone yell 'I'm gonna kill you if you don't stop doing that.' "

Deputies are still looking for suspects. Around 50 people were involved in the fight and one man was shot in the leg. The neighbor says she looked outside to see what happened and heard about 30 gunshots ring out. "I don't have any grudge against the restaurant itself, I just wish it was safer for people around it, especially people who live near the restaurant."

The ABCA says they've suspended the license of Appetizer's Bar and Lounge during the criminal and administrative investigation. They've been cited before, in December 2012, for not carding and over serving a customer. The bar released a statement, attached to this story.
