CARTER COUNTY, Ky. – A man and woman who appeared on an episode of an MTV reality series back in December have been indicted on drug charges.
Cortney J. Howard, 26, of Grayson, and David R. Nickell, 33, of Sandy Hook, were arrested several days after the show aired.
The December 9 episode of the MTV series “True Life” was titled “I’m Addicted to Pills” and filmed in Carter County.
The next day, Carter County Attorney Patrick Flannery contacted Kentucky State Police concerning numerous law violations shown on camera in the episode.
During that episode, individuals allegedly engaged in trafficking and possession of controlled substances, and also placed juveniles in unsafe positions, according to a KSP news release.
Following a joint investigation by KSP and the Carter County Attorneys Office, Howard and Nickell were arrested.
Earlier this month a grand jury indicted Howard for drug possession, endangering the welfare of a minor, and theft.
Nickell was indicted for drug trafficking. Nickell remains in the Carter County Detention Center.
Howard is out on bond. Her arraignment is set for next month.
