UPDATE 8/2/14 @ 5:48 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Jonathon Harold's trip taking his mother to work was a little more eventful Saturday.

"To hear someone has been stabbed, I'm just like, it's just mind-blowing," said Harold.

Charleston Police say a group of three were hanging out on a porch next door to Harold around 4 a.m. Saturday when an argument took place.

Harold's mom witnessed it first hand.

"She heard a bunch of loud noises, banging and rumbling," recalled Harold. "I guess even stuff being thrown around, even shook our house a little bit."

The dispute ended with 30-year-old Gary Easley being stabbed in the shoulder.

Tamala Johnson, who lives across the street says it's just another example of senseless violence she sees every day on the west side.

"Shootings, stabbings, arguments, fighting," said Johnson.

Unfortunately, her family hasn't been immune.

"My son got shot on Delaware Avenue three years ago," said Johnson.

Her son, Ricci, was a 15-year-old innocent bystander who got hit with a stray bullet to the face.

Miraculously, though dead on arrival, he clung to life.

Living each day as a blessing, Johnson wishes people would just think before rushing into rage.

"All it takes is, 'oh, I'm sorry, can we talk?' or, 'oh, I didn't mean to do this,'" said Johnson.
