PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Pike County doctor has been banned from prescribing pills after allegations he could be running a pill mill.
Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure officials found Dr. Kermit Gibson of Elkhorn City was overprescribing prescription pills to some patients, as well as misdiagnosing them. Those officials also say Gibson displayed gross negligence and that overall patient care was unacceptable.
Many of Gibson's patients disagree with the allegations, saying he is a caring and responsible doctor.
A hearing for Gibson is set for February.
