Man Facing Charges after Crashing into Cruiser during Chase

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A police chase in St. Albans ended in a crash late Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Michael Atkins was driving a motorcycle without a registration. When they tried to pull him over on Kanawha Terrace -- he took off.

The chase ended on South Walnut Street when Atkins crashed into a cruiser.

Atkins suffered some injuries to his hand and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Atkins is facing several charges.

The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, on Laurel Drive near the old swimming pool.

Dispatchers say officers were chasing a motorcycle, when the driver lost control and crashed.

One person was taken to the hospital.

We don't know how seriously that person was hurt.
