UPDATE 12/3/13 @ 5:25 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people have been arrested after a police standoff.

The standoff was reported Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex on Hillcrest Drive in Charleston.

Police say the standoff started when they went to an apartment looking for Michael Quinones. They say he was out on parole after being convicted of murder in 1995.

A 2010 warrant was out for his arrest because of a parole violation.

When police got on scene Tuesday, a friend on Quinones' said he wasn't there.

That's when they forcibly entered the home, used teargas and ultimately had to drag the suspect out.

Tim Goode with the US Marshals tells WSAZ.com, "We made sure that everybody was out of the apartment area itself, then secreted police officers around and then kept people from actually coming up in the area. It was our understanding that school was getting ready to let out so we had officers at the base of the hill to stop the kids from coming up."

Police tell WSAZ.com there were weapons in the home, but no one was hurt.
