UPDATE: Putnam County Man Sentenced for Sexually Abusing 6-Year-Old Girl

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Putnam County man who pleaded guilty to sexual abuse charges is headed to prison.

Donnie Bailes was sentenced Thursday to five to 25 years behind bars.

The little girl told police the abuse began she was just six-years-old and it lasted for four years.

When Bailes is released from prison he will have to register as a sex offender and will be on supervised release for 50 years.

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man was arrested on sexual assault charges in connection with an alleged crime going back as much as four years, police say.

Donnie Bailes, of Putnam County, was arrested last week after a female relative told police he raped her several times from the time she was six until she was 10-years-old. She says it happened at his home in Buffalo.

Bailes has been charged with incest, first-degree sexual assault and sexual abuse.
