HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A group of criminals who stole a very expensive guitar, then pawned it, were arrested in record time.
At 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, Huntington Police say Dean Delagatti stole a guitar from Mack & Dave's in Huntington. The guitar, a Martin brand guitar, was listed with a value of $800, police say.
"He said 'I'll be back' that he had to make a phone call," Mack & Dave's salesman Danny Adkins said. "Then he stole the guitar."
Police tell WSAZ.com Delagatti hopped in a car with two women, Elizabeth Sowards and Rachel Doneff, and drove five blocks down the street to Big Buck's Pawn Shop.
The women were caught on surveillance walking in the pawn shop at 11:26 a.m. By 11:28 a.m., the women had sold the stolen guitar for $120 and left the store.
About 11:30 a.m., Huntington Police Officer Jeff Sexton says the three were picked up in a traffic stop. Shop workers had provided a description of the vehicle.
The guitar is back on its shelf at Mack & Dave's. The three suspects, meanwhile, are singing the Western Regional Jail blues.
Delagatti has been charged with larceny; Sowards and Doneff are charged with transferring and receiving stolen goods.
