GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A structural engineer will visit the building along Court Street that had its roof ripped off by a storm Friday afternoon, crews at the scene say.
The engineer is expected to visit the scene Saturday. The building is located along Court Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues.
The roof was from the old Oscar's Restaurant, which has been converted to a couple of apartments and the Genealogical Society office.
No one was hurt, but at least one car was damaged.
There is one tenant who lives above the Visitor’s Bureau, which is located directly alongside the old Oscar's Restaurant. Arrangements have been made to put that tenant in a hotel for the weekend.
Two tenants who lived in the old Oscar's building were not home at the time of the damage. Both have places to stay, crews at the scene said.
A quick storm front ripped through Gallipolis about 3 p.m.
Gallipolis Police Chief Clint Patterson tells WSAZ.com that the storm ripped off the roof of a building on Court Street between Second and Third Avenues.
Chief Patterson says the roof is from the old Oscar's Restaurant which has been converted to a couple of apartments and the Genealogical Society office.
No one was injured, but at least one car was damaged.
Parts of Court Street and Third Ave are closed at this time.
Chief Patterson is asking people to avoid the area until crews can determine if it is safe.
