UPDATE: Rt. 2 Reopens After Fatal Crash in Mason County

UPDATE 12/19/13 @ 10:30 p.m.
MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Route 2 has reopened near Point Pleasant after a fatal accident.

Mason County Sheriff's deputies tell WSAZ.com a semi and SUV collided along Route 2 near about 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger in the SUV was rushed to the hospital.

Deputies say the driver of the semi was not hurt in the crash.

No word on what caused the accident.

No names have been released.

Deputies say a semi-truck and a car collided along Route 2 near Point Pleasant Thursday evening.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger in the car was rushed to the hospital.

Deputies say the driver of the semi-truck was not hurt in the crash.

No word on what caused the accident.

Rt. 2 is closed in both directions.
